A Tale of Vision, Partnership, and Empowerment
In the remote landscapes of Sambalpur, Odisha, lies a story of hope and transformation. Since its inception in 2014, Project Netra, a collaborative effort between The Vision Mission (TVM) and Trilochan Netralaya (TN), has been illuminating lives through the gift of sight.
From humble beginnings with 1000 cataract surgeries, Project Netra has evolved into a beacon of comprehensive eye care. Over 10,000 individuals from marginalized communities have regained their vision, thanks to free surgical programs and specialized services established by TVM and TN. This journey of partnership, affectionately known as "Project Netra," has been made possible by the unwavering support of specialist volunteers and generous donors, including Novartis.
The recent mission trip, Netra 2023, symbolized the culmination of this journey. It served as a testament to the success of TVM's Global Fellowship program, the exchange of knowledge at the Odisha State Ophthalmology conference, and the commitment to capacity building at TN.
During Netra 2023, our team of dedicated professionals conducted clinics, performed surgeries, and imparted knowledge to local practitioners. At the heart of our mission lies a deep commitment to continued medical education, clinical excellence, and community empowerment.
At TN, optometry services play a crucial role in extending comprehensive eye care to rural areas. Through training programs and ongoing professional development, TN ensures that the legacy of compassion and expertise continues to thrive.
As we reflect on our journey in Sambalpur, we invite you to join us in our mission to restore sight and transform lives. Together, we can create a future where vision knows no boundaries.
Reflection and Overall Thoughts:
During discussions with the inaugural TVM Global Fellow Dr. Bulgan and the training team at TN, Dr. Bulgan's positive review of her surgical training experience highlighted the transformative impact of the program. Now equipped to perform cataract surgeries independently in Mongolia, Dr. Bulgan's gratitude underscores the potential for similar opportunities to empower healthcare professionals across Asia. The TVM team is committed to creating a structured TVM-TN Global Fellowship program to continue fostering impactful change in areas of need.
Join us in our mission to restore sight and transform lives. Learn more about Project Netra and how you can support our efforts.
