Restoring Vision, Restoring Hope: The Vision Mission Cataract Surgery Camp in Sri Lanka

In May-June 2016, The Vision Mission embarked on a transformative journey to Vavuniya, Sri Lanka, in collaboration with Vision 2020 and the Ministry of Health. Recognizing the dire need for eye care in impoverished communities, our team of skilled surgeons conducted a mass cataract surgery camp.

Led by dedicated professionals like Dr. Shivaprasad Sahoo, Dr. Rupesh Agrawal, and Dr. Raghuraj Hegde, alongside surgical assistant Mr. Srutiranjan Sahoo, we joined forces with local healthcare heroes Dr. Asela Abeydeera and Dr. Velautham Sarveswaran. Together, we overcame challenges and worked tirelessly to restore sight to those in need.

With the support of the Ministry of Health and Assist Resettlement & Renaissance, UK, we successfully performed a record-breaking 490 cataract surgeries within five days. Witnessing hundreds of patients regain their vision filled our hearts with joy and reinforced our commitment to serving humanity.

Our cataract surgery camp in Sri Lanka marked a monumental milestone in our mission to provide compassionate eye care. Through collaboration and dedication, we brought light into the lives of hundreds of individuals, igniting hope for a brighter future.

Join us in our mission to restore vision and transform lives. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in communities around the world.

Join us in restoring vision and hope to communities in need. Our dedicated team performed a record-breaking 490 surgeries, leaving a lasting imprint on lives.
