A Journey of Empathy and Healing Through Free Eye Care
In the heart of Sambalpur, Odisha, lies a community facing the shadows of vision impairment. In February 2014, The Vision Mission embarked on a mission of compassion, conducting 300 free cataract surgeries across three camps, marking the genesis of Project Netra. The journey continued with unwavering dedication, culminating in November 2014 with an additional 350 surgeries and the establishment of optometry training and tele-ophthalmology services.
As 2014 drew to a close, December witnessed the final chapter of our endeavors, concluding with a total of 1000 free cataract surgeries and the initiation of glaucoma management training for local doctors. The Vision Mission, a Singapore-based non-profit, led by a team of committed professionals, envisions eradicating treatable vision impairments and ensuring universal access to through three impactful missions in 2014.
Project Netra brought light to the lives of a thousand individuals in Sambalpur, Odisha, afflicted by cataracts. Beyond surgeries, our efforts encompassed training local medical
teams, optimizing surgical processes, and establishing tele-ophthalmology services. Every step was a testament to our commitment to restoring vision and nurturing hope.
