Empowering Communities Through Eye Care

Sambalpur, nestled in the heart of Odisha, India, has been a focal point for The Vision Mission (TVM) since 2014. Collaborating with Trilochan Netralaya (TN), TVM's Project Netra endeavors to eliminate curable blindness in Western Odisha. Over the past years, our efforts have expanded, encompassing various initiatives to uplift eye care in the region.

In 2014 and 2015, we facilitated 1000 free cataract surgeries annually, enhancing TN's capabilities in clinics, teleophthalmology, optometry, and more. This dedication persisted into 2016, with two significant mission trips. In November, Dr. Grace Chew, Dr. Ng Wei Yan, and Dr. Helen Mi Fang led a team, followed by Dr. Adj Assoc Prof Shamira Perera, Prof Dan Milea, Mr. Vinay Kulkarni, and Mr. Avinash Jayaraman in December.

These missions aimed to establish a diabetic retinopathy screening program, conduct clinics, provide laser training, and perform cataract surgeries. With each trip, our commitment to delivering 1000 surgeries annually to Western Odisha remained unwavering.

Our journey in Sambalpur is a testament to the transformative power of compassion-driven initiatives. By providing essential eye care services and fostering local capacity, we aim to illuminate countless lives in Odisha.

Overall conducted 1000 cataract surgeries,provided diabetic retinopathy screening and management,offered clinical opinion and follow-up care and continued medical education (CME) program
